May Visiting Teaching Message

The Vision of Prophets regarding Relief Society:
Faith, Family, Relief

From the April 2012 Conference Talk by Julie B. Beck

Since the beginning of the Restoration, prophets have shared their vision of strong, faithful, purposeful women who understand their eternal value and purpose.  When the Prophet Joseph Smith organized Relief Society he taught the sisters that they were to “relieve the poor” and “save souls”.
Relief Society is not a program.  It is an official part of the Lord’s Church that is “divinely ordained of God” to teach, strengthen, and inspire sisters in their purpose regarding faith, family and relief.  It is a way of life for Latter-day Saint women, and its influence extends far beyond a Sunday class or a social gathering.
President Spencer W Kimball said: “There are many sisters who are living in rags--spiritual rags.  They are entitled to gorgeous robes, spiritual robes…It is your privilege to go into homes and exchange robes for rags”

Sister Julie Beck Released

As most of you have already heard, Sister Beck was released as the General Relief Society President at General Conference last weekend. Anyone that knows me knows how I admire, love and respect her. Rather than express my love, gratitude and appreciation for her and her motivating, inspiring and uplifting messages, I thought I would share one of my favorite posts from mormonmommyblogs.com, that should bring a smile to your face ...

Dear Sister Beck,

Dear Sister Beck,

I think you're so neat. Would you ever consider going out to lunch sometime? I love the Olive Garden and their breadsticks.

Dear Sr. B.,

Who does your hair? I'm your biggest fan.

Dear Julie,

Hey there, how's it going? Big meeting with President Monson today? Anything you can share?

Dear Jules,

Can I call you Jules?

I think you're awesome. And if you wanted to be my BFF, I would totally be okay with that. We could hang out, and go shopping together. Or we could just sit at the table and chat about how cool you are, and the women of the world that you visit are, too. But if you're on your way over, will you call first? I'd hate to have laundry sitting on the sofa when you got here.

Love,

Momza
